Shop perspective

Laundry rooms don't have to be the forgotten corner of a home. Even a space dedicated to the most ordinary household chores can be somewhere you genuinely enjoy spending time.

Maybe you're imagining beautiful cabinetry, a particular color or material, or a room that finally feels connected to the rest of your home. Maybe you need more storage, a better place to fold clothes, or a way to accommodate several household functions in one space.

Usually, there's some combination of both.

Still Am Studios designs and builds custom laundry room cabinets, counters, shelving, and built-ins with the whole room in mind. We consider how it should look, feel, and function together, because a room shouldn't have to sacrifice one to achieve the others.

Plan Around How You Actually Do Laundry

Laundry involves more than putting clothes into a machine. Sorting, treating stains, folding, hanging, and storing supplies all take up space.

But not every laundry room needs a dedicated station for every step.

We look at which activities happen in the room, what needs to stay within reach, and how the available space can accommodate those routines. A well-placed folding counter, accessible storage, or a convenient place to hang clothes can make a meaningful difference without turning the room into an elaborate operation.

Make Room for the Machines and Utilities

Custom cabinetry needs to work with the appliances and connections already in the space.

Washer and dryer doors need clearance. Controls, water connections, shutoffs, and ventilation need to remain accessible. And at some point, those machines may need to be serviced or replaced.

These considerations influence how we design the surrounding cabinetry. Beautiful built-ins aren't much of a success if accessing a water shutoff requires dismantling them.

Make the Most of a Smaller Laundry Room

Not every laundry room has the space for a full wall of cabinetry or an expansive folding counter.

A shallow upper cabinet, a narrower storage unit, or a counter fitted around existing appliances might be a better solution. Sometimes the opportunity is in using vertical space. Other times, it's in keeping the room open rather than filling every available wall.

Custom cabinetry lets us work with the room's actual dimensions while creating something that feels intentionally designed for the space.

Folding, Hanging, and Everyday Storage

Folding counters, hanging rods, drying racks, and shelving can make everyday laundry routines easier.

The right arrangement depends on what you need and the space available. A pull-out drying rack might make sense in a compact room, while a larger laundry area could accommodate a permanent hanging section.

The same applies to storage. Some supplies are easier to reach on open shelves, while others are better kept behind cabinet doors.

We consider those needs alongside the overall appearance of the room so the individual pieces work together as one design.

Give the Awkward Things Somewhere to Go

Laundry rooms often end up housing things that don't fit particularly well elsewhere.

Brooms, vacuums, ironing boards, cleaning supplies, and bulk household goods can benefit from dedicated storage. A tall utility cabinet, for example, can accommodate awkward items without leaving them scattered around the room.

That storage can also become part of the room's design, with materials, proportions, and cabinetry details that complement the surrounding space.

When the Laundry Room Does More Than Laundry

In some homes, the laundry room also functions as a mudroom, utility space, pantry overflow, or secondary entry.

That can create opportunities to bring several needs together through one cohesive design.

A laundry counter might sit beside built-in entryway storage. Tall cabinets could accommodate household supplies, while a utility sink or pet-care area shares the space with the appliances.

The challenge is giving the room everything it needs without making it feel like several unrelated projects squeezed together.

Materials, Finishes, and the Feel of the Room

Laundry rooms see moisture, cleaning products, repeated use, and the occasional spill. Those conditions should inform material selection and construction.

But they don't dictate an industrial appearance.

Painted cabinetry, hardwood details, stone or other suitable counter surfaces, and carefully chosen hardware can all contribute to a beautiful room that's made for everyday life.

We consider durability, maintenance, color, texture, and the overall design together. The finished space should feel as considered as the rest of the home, not like an afterthought because the washing machine happens to live there.

Laundry Rooms for Homes Across North Georgia

Still Am Studios designs and builds custom laundry room cabinetry from our Canton, Georgia shop, serving homeowners throughout Woodstock, Roswell, Milton, and the greater metro Atlanta area.

Laundry spaces vary considerably from home to home. Some are generously sized rooms with opportunities for extensive cabinetry. Others are compact closets or pass-through spaces where careful planning can make a difference.

Custom work allows the design to respond to the actual space, the surrounding architecture, and what the homeowner wants the room to become.

Designed and Built Together

At Still Am Studios, the creative direction and the realities of construction inform each other from the beginning.

The cabinetry, materials, proportions, storage, and overall character of the room are developed as parts of the same design. We then bring that vision to life through furniture-quality craftsmanship and shop-built cabinetry.

Whether the project involves a single cabinet, a new folding counter, or a complete laundry room refresh, the goal is to make the everyday experience a little better.

And to create a room you're happy to leave the door open on.
